.....want to get on with one another but sometimes policemens'conduct,often arrogant and high-handed,makes this impossible. A death by misadventure in the family brings it home to you that their existence is no mischance and they are vitally necessary. The actions of some policemen do,however,give very serious cause for concern and I do not just mean whacko weirdo 'born-again' nutcases but Catholic policemen too.
Let the Chief Constable stop engaging in irresponsible posing with armed men and realise that,if I am not mistaken,the democratic basis of the Northern Ireland state disappeared years ago. Catholics are in the majority because of vastly superior moral guidance.
If police and their families do not want to feel the anger saturation policing and blanket policing create,let them examine cause and effect and,while maintaining a regular presence,go into areas only in response to a reported crime or incident.
BUT,above all, the police must STOP impeding the functioning of the courts and system of justice and interference with laws designed to protect the public...
